5 Events for May 2016 in Collierville, Tennessee

Looking ahead through the month of May, there is quite a bit going on in our community-based town! From month long celebrations and local events, to national holidays, look to this list for eventful ideas for you and your family.

 

 

1. Preservation Month

When: The Entire Month of May (May 1,2016- May 31,2016)

Where: Collierville, Tennessee

“Various activities are offered throughout the month of May to celebrate Preservation Month.  Area elementary schools and preschools are asked to participate in “Pennies for Preservation” where they will collect change throughout their school for the month of April.  Funds collected will be used for projects/programs in the Historic District.  Certificates for schools and these individuals and businesses are presented during the May 2016 Awards ceremony.”

 

 

2. Fair On the Square – Hosted by The 20th Century Club

When: May 7th and 8th

Where: Main Street

“Come join us the first weekend in May for Collierville’s Fair on the Square. As in the past, the Fair will offer a wide variety of handicrafts, needle and woodcrafts, sculptures, baskets, pottery, ceramics, and paintings, original jewelry, clothing and floral designs, and garden items. Entertainment for the enjoyment of all ages shares the stage at the historic Depot Platform at the Square’s south end.”

 

 

3. Symphony In the Rose Garden – Hosted By the Collierville Arts Council 

When: May 15th  5:00 PM

Where: The home of Mary Jean & Bob Smith, 156 W. Poplar Collierville

“The seated concert features over 1,000 rose bushes as the backdrop for the Symphony performance.  The fabulous rose gardens will be open for tours and picnics. The Symphony under the direction of Dr. Ron Vernon, will include show tunes and a variety of other orchestrations.  All proceeds benefit cultural arts events for the Collierville Arts Council, a 501C3 organization.”

Ticket Options:

General Admission: $30

Symphony Wine Ticket: $60 includes wine in a commerative wine glass and al fresco dinner by the pool after the Symphony at approximately 6:30

 

 

4. Memphis Metro Attraction Association Luncheon – Hosted by Main Street Collierville

When: May 17th

Where: Main Street

“The Memphis Metro Attraction Association will hold a luncheon and meeting, May 17th. . The Metro Memphis Attractions Association is a great way to promote your attraction and industry related business through the attractions and tourism industry in the Memphis area. Monthly lunches provide wonderful opportunities to network with other attractions, hotels and the Memphis tourism community.”

 

 

5. Memorial Day 

IWhen: May 30th

Where: N/A

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces! All offices will be closed for the day, as we join together to celebrate our nation’s heroes. This also means that summer is right around the corner.
